Its output still needs judgment. ResumeCheck reviews the text you paste. Before you paste: a 60-second privacy check

A no-signup flow is not the same as an offline tool. The text still has to be processed to generate a review. Before pasting any resume into an online service, make a review copy and remove details that are not needed for writing feedback.

• Remove your street address; city and state are usually enough for a content review.
• Replace your phone number and personal email with neutral placeholders if you prefer.
• Remove references, reference contact details, employee IDs, and confidential client information.
• Never paste government identifiers, account numbers, health information, or authentication details.
• Keep employer and project names only when they are necessary to understand the accomplishment.

The 10-minute resume self-audit

Set a timer and use one target job as your reference. Do not try to rebuild the entire resume in this pass. The goal is to identify the three edits with the highest practical value.

Minutes 0–2: confirm the target and the top third

Write the target role at the top of your notes. Now read only the first third of the resume. Without relying on the filename or cover letter, can a reader identify the kind of work you do, your relevant level of experience, and one reason to keep reading?

• Make the headline or summary specific to the role rather than a generic objective.
• Put the most relevant evidence where it can be found quickly.
• Delete claims such as “results-driven” when the next line does not show a result.

Minutes 2–5: test the evidence in your bullets

Read the first two bullets under each recent role. Highlight the action, the scope or context, and the outcome. A bullet does not need a percentage or dollar amount to be concrete, but it should show more than a copied job duty.

The second version is stronger because it names the cadence, scope, and purpose. “Three store locations” is an example—not a number to borrow. If you do not have a trustworthy metric, use an honest detail such as audience, frequency, complexity, turnaround time, or business purpose.

Minutes 5–7: map ATS keywords without stuffing

Read the job description once and circle repeated tools, methods, credentials, and role-specific terms. For each one, ask two questions: “Have I genuinely used this?” and “Where can I prove it?” Use the employer's exact term when it truthfully describes your experience, then support it in a bullet or project when possible.

Do not add invisible text, repeat a phrase unnaturally, or claim a tool you have not used. A truthful synonym can improve clarity; keyword stuffing cannot repair a qualification gap.

Minutes 7–8: test the pasted-text version

Copy the resume from the file you plan to send and paste it into a plain-text editor. Check whether headings, employer names, dates, and bullets appear in a sensible order. Watch for missing symbols, merged columns, repeated headers, or lines that become scrambled.

This is a useful extraction sanity check, not a guarantee about every ATS. It also shows exactly what a pasted-text checker can review. Return to the original document separately to inspect font size, spacing, alignment, page breaks, and visual hierarchy.

Minutes 8–10: check consistency and choose three edits

• Use present tense for current work and past tense for completed work.
• Apply one date format, one capitalization style, and one punctuation pattern.
• Define uncommon abbreviations the first time they appear.
• Remove duplicate claims that use space without adding evidence.
• Rank your findings by impact, then choose only the first three edits for this pass.

AI-generated feedback can vary between runs, so a small score change by itself is not meaningful evidence that the resume is better.
